Question: what belief does Easter express? Answer: Easter celebrates the resurrection, the belief that Jesus was raised from death. The three-day shape — Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday — expresses the belief that suffering and death come before new life, which is why the mood of the services changes so sharply between them.
