Comment ? how / what (Comment tu t'appelles ?), Où ? where (Tu habites où ?), Quel âge ? what age (Tu as quel âge ?), Pourquoi ? why, Qu'est-ce que ? what (Qu'est-ce que tu aimes ?), Combien de ? how many (Tu as combien de frères ?).

Three ways to ask the same thing
You can raise your voice at the end: 'Tu aimes le sport ?' You can add est-ce que: 'Est-ce que tu aimes le sport ?' Or you can invert: 'Aimes-tu le sport ?' In speech the first is the most natural; in writing, est-ce que is the safest.

Bouncing the question back
The single most useful phrase in a role play is 'Et toi ?' — and you? Answer, then bounce. 'J'ai un chat. Et toi, tu as un animal ?' That one habit turns a two-line exchange into a real conversation.
