The être verbs
A small group of movement verbs uses être instead: aller, venir, partir, arriver, rester, sortir, entrer, monter, descendre, tomber, naître, mourir. With être, the participle agrees: 'Je suis allé' (boy), 'Je suis allée' (girl), 'Nous sommes allés'.
