What counts
Physical, verbal, social exclusion and online bullying all count. Harassment is unwanted behaviour that violates someone's dignity. Discrimination is unfair treatment because of a protected characteristic such as race, religion, disability, sex or sexual orientation — that one is against the law under the Equality Act 2010.

Bystanders matter
Doing nothing is not neutral, because silence reads as agreement to the person doing it. Safe options include not laughing, checking in with the person afterwards, and reporting. You do not have to confront anyone to help.
